Usui Reiki: The Basics
The practice of Reiki is thought to originate in Japan and is used to balance and realign the energy centers of the body; these energy centers are often referred to as chakras. Reiki uses “universal life-force energy” to bring upon balance and increase healing throughout the whole body system. Dr. Mikao Usui is the father of the Usui Reiki System and is known for establishing a reliable and effective way to use and practice this method of healing. It is now used and accepted all over the World. Practitioners of Reiki act as a conduit of this universal healing energy, replenishing the human Biofield, also known as the aura.
Reiki energy is an ancient system of energetic healing. It is known to reduce anxiety and depression and increase the body’s natural healing abilities. When our life force energy is low, we are more likely to get sick and be stressed out by our daily lives. Reiki invites in life-force energy into our bodies and energy field, allowing us to feel more balanced and aligned in our life. When there is more life-force energy flowing through our system, we are more likely to be happy, healthy, and able to deal with the stressors of modern day life. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". It is also known as "spiritually guided life force energy."(More Info Here)
Everyone experiences Reiki differently as the energy works with each unique individual’s needs. As it replenishes the energy in your Biofield it can feel like your whole body is engulfed in radiant light that flows through and around you. As this light flows through you it begins to reestablish harmony between the mind, body, and soul, creating overall feelings of peace, wellness, relaxation and security. It is said in Reiki that all disease within the body or mind has an energetic starting point. Reiki energy finds these imbalances and works to create an abundance of energy flow to correct them. In this way Reiki works on the source of our pain instead of numbing the symptoms of it. It can benefit any treatment plan already in place or can be used to create a new one.
Another thing that sets Reiki apart from traditional western medicine is the set of principles that are a part of this healing method. These principles teach us that in order for profound healing to occur, we have to put in personal work to sustain this new found energy within ourselves. This personal work means taking responsibility for our actions and routines; it means actively becoming conscious of how we affect our own healing and daily lives. Reiki is not a cure all, but as long as we are committed to change, it can be effective in clearing blocks and creating a new way of being. It is time to accept and believe in the possibility of a balanced, happy, and fulfilling life. Reiki energy alone cannot do this, but in combination with an open heart and a will to change, it can certainly create a road towards health, happiness, and wellbeing.
